WBD

If we work backwards and see the joy of holding a Seuss, Donaldson et all... it WORKS... those children grow and communicate and learn...then it seems to stop... Because the pressure and budgets and targets kick in... So, let's ALL say we want to change and make things work, it'll be a more healthy, happy and productive country if we put reading and associated subject matter first and make it a huge part of the way we perceive success.

Pop to Youtube, download some of the empowering videos of reworked songs aimed at showing what works. Start a writeathon or a competition, ask for prizes make it worthwhile... Haiku and Sonnets...cool... limericks too...

Seriously research shows these are the right things to do, trust me I read...

Plan ahead too, put a book day into at least each term, drop other stuff, do booky things and maybe film things and show off what you've done, embrace technology to aid resources of learning, don't just rely on it as an artificial replacement though.

Don't just buy a Dismal costume and say it's all about books...that isn't cool and wastes the money that could be spent on buying real books...

If we work out a plan and stick to it together we can have a happier and better future, sadly though it means reading more and sharing ideas and not just using mobiles and techie stuff... Turn them off... please do...

So book a poet, a writer, a storyteller and an illustrator and pay them a fair wage, they deserve it just as much as sporty types or money types or suchlike... and believe it or not if authors (and associated similar)  where seen a sRonaldo is seen then actually we'd have more wanting to do it and the costumes are better in books, WHY would you want to wear what footballers have to wear... adverts and artificial fabrics... not good.

Others will say most of this better, I just felt I'd say something before i go and support children and others near me with my 18th WBD, it's changed and not all for the better, but access to better books and authors etc is there... make it work and don't just dump the voucher in a global space and not enjoy the reality of looking properly.

I'll be working with Polybius, Joseph Delaney, Sally-Anne Tapia-Bowes, Josh Lacey, Joshua Khan/Sarwat Chadda, Peader O Guilin and many more in March... we will have fun and make reading matter...

Sally-Anne and I are members of the Society for Storytelling and locally to Liverpool area are quite affordable, we do a great performance for all ages and hope some of you get in touch.

pop to www.purplepenguinpublishing.com and see a bit and enquire via the form.

The only thing stopping you is keeping your imagination sedated...

Read and Smile and all will be good!
