Southport Festival
Sally-Anne and I venture out as Storytellers, we've done loads of schools and libraries and a few festivals, more are booked...

She can sing, I'm pretty rubbish, I wish I could! I join in and try to add a little backing vocals but if I try to be too loud she turns my mike off!
Although my jazzy scat as for 'I wanna be like you' seemed to work ok this weekend!
She suddenly said, why don't we ask our kids to sing a few songs, so Matty who does lots of drama and singing was booked to do a bit of Sinatra stuff and Teresita some real anthems like Rihanna and Amy Winehouse.
Then... Sally-Anne said... what could they sing together... well, after a few weeks rehearsing... it turned out to be a lot and was superb.
They did 2 sets of 4 songs each day and then had children come up and do joining in with Disney classics, it was quite special.
They did have their ipad/phone handy as the odd harmony line is hard until you've done it a few more times, but overall they were absolutely spot on with their timings and really blended superbly, they are now considering branching out as a duo for events on their own!
In fact when you see the set up we erect for our events...and they'll be a PA and some tunes and voices and smiles... I think they'll get more bookings than us! cheek of it!
Sally-Anne had the idea we needed a portable area for indoors or outdoors and it needed to stand out, so we bought a Teepee and added some new bunting which was a fab last minute idea of hers. It takes about 45 mins to erect and if you have 18 foot of ceiling space we can do indoors at schools etc.
We also have the pop up shop for her fab books too! We are both now writing some new material I delve into world myths and have unearthed some gems, which we are airing in preparation and then will sit and write together. She has several new books due as she's already written about 20 with her main character Mr Crocodile, He's hiding outside the gazebo as you look to the right.
Kids loved their chance to sit on the special storytellers throne and it really added a feel of connection for the audiences, which were constant both days, we hardly drew breath!
We had a real age range too...
We actually only did 1 session in the Teepee as the weather was superb, but these families really enjoyed themselves as you can see...
We now have a Youtube channel as Beyond Books Media and Sally-Anne's reading of her 'The Gift' was seriously special, it is a genuinely moving story and all ages adore it, pop across.... you can always order any books through the main site or my online shop on here...
The close up to the teller is a really unique thing a setting like a Teepee adds.
